Brooke and the Forrester Men: 3 Men, 1 Woman
Eric gives his blessing to Thorne and Brooke

Home

Eric: Yes?

Brooke: We need to talk.

Eric: If it's what I think it's about, no, we don't.

Thorne: How do you even know what we're going to say?

Eric: The two of you come into my office hand-in-hand and you think I don't know what you want to talk about? You know how I feel about your relationship.

Brooke: Eric, this isn't just about a relationship. This is about our wedding.

Thorne: We've decided to go ahead and get married.

Eric: So the fact that I think it's the most destructive, irresponsible thing you could possibly do to this family makes no difference to you, does it? But you already know what I think, Thorne -- me, your mother, Ridge, the whole family. Look, I have a lot I have to do tonight before I go home. I don't want to talk about this. I'm finished here, Thorne.

Brooke: Well, we're not, Eric.

Eric: Oh, come on, Brooke.

Brooke: We're just asking you to be reasonable.

Eric: Look, what brought this on all of a sudden? Thorne, I thought you were seeing Kimberly.

Thorne: Dad, I am not seeing Kimberly.

Eric: Well, you certainly seemed very interested there for awhile.

Thorne: Well, because you wanted to believe that. I'm not involved with her, and I never have been, period!

Eric: Oh, why the hell can't you two just let this thing go? All right, it's become a real obsession with you two, you know that?

Thorne: Yeah, do we ever.

Eric: You think this is funny?

Brooke: No. No, Eric. We think this is wonderful. It's taken us a long time to get to this point.

Eric: And what point is that exactly, Brooke?

Brooke: We are more committed to each other now than we ever have been.

Eric: Well, if that's the way you feel, I don't see why you came in here to see me in the first place.

Thorne: Because the one thing that we don't have -- and not that we need it -- is your blessing. Dad, we're getting married, make no mistake about that. And we're not here to ask your permission, okay? We're here to invite you to be a part of it. Now, I'm asking you, please support us. Tell us that you'll be there on our wedding day. So, dad, what do you say?

Eric: I don't know what else I can say, Thorne.

Brooke: Just say yes, that you will give our marriage your blessing.

Thorne: You know what, dad? You are the head of this family, and what you say pretty much goes. Now, if you will support us on this, then maybe Ridge and mom will, too. Or maybe they won't. But you know what? We need to try and bring this family together. And we want this wedding to do that.

Eric: Thorne, this is not just a wedding. This is Brooke's third marriage to a Forrester.

Brooke: Oh, God, this is useless. Let's just go.

Thorne: No, you know what? Wait a minute. Nothing is going to tear Brooke and me apart. We will be married, okay -- period. But we want you to be there. We want the family to be there. Now, please, I'm asking you to help

Eric: You don't think I'd love to do that? You think this is easy? This is not easy!

Brooke: We are only asking for your blessing, Eric!

Eric: Let me ask you something, Brooke. What about our children?

Brooke: Our children have accepted us.

Eric: What?

Brooke: The two people that we want to protect the most -- Rick and Bridget -- they've accepted our wedding, our marriage. Now why can't you?

Eric: Rick and Bridget have accepted this?

Thorne: Yes. It's true, dad. They both have.

Brooke: Bridget told me herself.

Eric: But she was so dead set against it, Brooke. What changed?

Brooke: She was afraid she was going lose me, but now, she knows that would never happen. Eric, we want this, and we deserve it after everything we've been through. You know how hard we've struggled with you, Stephanie, the children -- all of you. And yet, here we are. We're still standing, still committed, and stronger than ever. Now, doesn't that count for anything?

Eric: Look, I know where the two of you are coming from here. But are you prepared to pay the consequences? Brooke, you're CEO of this company. Now, every conference you attend, every fashion show, every press event, this thing's gonna follow you around. It's gonna hound you. It's gonna drive you mad. Do you know how that's gonna affect your marriage?

Thorne: We'll handle it.

Eric: You'll handle it. This relationship is a nightmare. This relationship had been a time bomb from the very beginning, something to protect people from. And I tried to protect Stephanie from this, and I failed. Well, that's all right. She's back to her old self now. She's strong again. There's something you're gonna have to handle. And Rick, Bridget -- I will fight you all the way to the altar if I think there is any emotion danger in this for them. But you tell me they've accepted this. That had better be true, Brooke. You wanna know how I feel about this relationship? Sadly, I think it's a long shot. But I won't deny you've paid a price -- a very stiff price -- and you're still together, you're still standing, as you say. Many other relationships would've crumbled by now.

Brooke: So, what you're saying --

Eric: What I'm saying is that maybe there's something to this after all.

Thorne: You -- you mean that?

Eric: Yeah. You two want to get married, I won't stand in your way.

Thorne: You don't know what this means to me.

Eric: Ah, you're wrong about that. I do.
