Brooke and the Forrester Men: 3 Men, 1 Woman
Ridge and Stephanie come around for Thorne and Brooke's wedding

Home

Ridge: What the hell are you looking at?

Thorne: You're here.

Ridge: Kid brother's getting married. Of course I'm here.

Thorne: Yeah. Yeah, right.

Ridge: I just wanted to make you sweat it out a little.

Thorne: Damn you, Ridge. Would you put this monkey suit on?

[Knock at door.]

Brooke: Bridget, tell the minister I'll be down in a minute, okay?

Brooke: Oh, Stephanie. What are you doing here? I can't believe you're here.

Stephanie: Well, you invited me.

Brooke: Yes, I did. But you were so determined not to come.

Stephanie: I changed my mind.

Ridge: Hold still, hold still.

Thorne: I can't believe it, bro. I can't believe you're here.

Ridge: Glad I am. You're a damn embarrassment to the family. You can't even tie your own tie.

Thorne: Oh, I can tie it. I just want to make you feel useful.

Ridge: Take a look.

Thorne: Thank you, Ridge.

Ridge: You're welcome.

Thorne: So what did it? Why'd you change your mind?

Ridge: Oh, I guess I had an epiphany.

Thorne: Ah, you did, huh?

Ridge: All of a sudden, it hit me. By not accepting your marriage, it was just me trying to control you, trying to get you do what I wanted you to do. Well, life isn't always like that. Besides, this is your life, not mine. All I can do is just be here for you.

Thorne: Taylor chewed your butt off, didn't she?

Ridge: So what if she did? Life is short. There's no point in holding on to the past, is there?

Thorne: I just wish mom felt the same way.

Brooke: You changed your mind? Does that mean you accept this marriage?

Stephanie: I didn't say that.

Brooke: Then why?

Stephanie: I want to understand how this has all happened. For years, I have literally tried to weed you out of this family. And you just keep hanging in. And now, you've got Rick, and Bridget, and Eric -- naturally Thorne -- on your side. And I want to understand.

Brooke: I told you, Stephanie. I want to bring this family together, the way it used to be.

Stephanie: You mean before you?

Brooke: Open your eyes. Thorne and I are happy.

Stephanie: How is this wedding different than any other one? To Eric? To Ridge? How am I suppose to trust you? It's so easy to burn down the house and then say I'm sorry.

Brooke: If you think rehashing this is going to affect me, think again. Thorne and I are in love. And it really has nothing to do with you.

Stephanie: He's my son. And this was my family long before you set your sights on them.

Brooke: Well, now it's our family. This is the happiest day of my life. And if you have nothing but bitter words, no matter how much it would mean to me and to my family, I'd rather you not stay.

Stephanie: I'm not finished.

Brooke: I can't fight anymore, Stephanie.

Stephanie: I don't want to fight either. This wedding's going to take place with or without me. So, I'm going to stay. And I'm not going to try and stop it.

Brooke: So you're not going to stop this wedding?

Stephanie: No.

Brooke: Oh, I knew you could do it! I knew you would find it in your heart to accept me.

Stephanie: I didn't say that I'm going to accept you. The truth is, I will never forgive you for what you did to me.

Brooke: Then what's this about?

Stephanie: The future of the family. Your maid of honor came to see me today. Did you know about that?

Brooke: I didn't send her, if that's what you're thinking.

Stephanie: Well, I don't like to admit it, but I really didn't think you would use your daughter that way.

Brooke: What did she say?

Stephanie: She said that she -- well, she said that the marriage is really important to her. And she wanted me to know how happy she is because you're happy. She asked me to try and understand, to put the things that are past behind us and to come to the wedding for the sake of the family. She said she needed me here.

Brooke: We all do, Stephanie.

Stephanie: No, not you, Brooke. You don't need anything from me. But the children are something separate. I would never do anything to hurt them. And she made me understand that my absence today here at this wedding would do just that. And she made me see something else.

Brooke: What's that?

Stephanie: The toll that's been taken on the children because of the animosity that we share. It's been the hardest on Rick and Bridget. And they deserve better than that. They deserve more than that. They deserve to know that they are loved by all of us. So I guess that has to start today, here and now.

Brooke: What are you saying?

Stephanie: I'm not here because of you. And I'm not here because of Thorne, whom I love. It's the future generations of Forresters, the children -- I want to stand for them. I want to be an example for them. Now, I probably will never fully accept this marriage, but they need me. They need both of us.

Thorne: You got the rings? Oh, come on, man, don't do that to me.

Ridge: I gave them to the minister. He'll make sure Thomas gets them down the aisle.

Thorne: You know, I'm glad you're here. I -- I thought I could handle this alone, but --

Ridge: Hey, you've been waiting a long time for this. So you've got the yips. It's to be expected.

Minister: Couple of minutes, everyone.

Thorne: Well, that's curtain call.

Ridge: Take it easy. It's show time. You can do this. Let's go.

Thorne: I still wish mom was here, you know?

Ridge: Yeah, me, too. We'll make the best of it. Come on.

Thorne: Yeah.

Bridget: Mom, we're all waiting. Stephanie!

Stephanie: Hello, honey.

Bridget: You're here! You came!

Stephanie: Well, you made it rather difficult for me not to. Hello, Stephen.

Stephen: Stephanie. It's good to see you. It's wonderful to see you.

Bridget: I knew you'd be here. I knew it!

Stephanie: Did you, now?

Bridget: Wait till the others see you.

Stephen: Well, we'd better go down. Everyone's ready.

Brooke: Okay. Stephanie? Thank you.

Beth: Stephen, what are you doing here? You're supposed to be with Brooke.

Stephen: Don't worry, honey. Everything's taken care of.

Thorne: Thanks, mom. We did it, honey. They're all here for us.
