Brooke and the Forrester Men: 3 Men, 1 Woman
Macy's death...who's to blame?

Home

There's a lot of debates still going on as to who is really responsible for Macy's death. Read the story and decide for yourself who's really at fault.

For several years, Macy's addiction to alcohol played a prominent role in the demise of her relationship with Thorne Forrester. When Brooke threatened to wreck her marriage, Macy turned to the bottle for emotional support. Her relapse only fueled Thorne's desire to end his marriage but guilt prevented him from doing so right away. Macy used her marriage as motivation to get sober, and Thorne felt obligated to remain by her side.

Brooke caught Macy drinking and seized the opportunity to convince Thorne to divorce his wife. Macy blasted Brooke for trying to break up her marriage and vowed to hold on to Thorne. Meanwhile, Thorne consulted Macy's AA counselor on the best way to end his marriage. Frustrated with tiptoeing around the truth, Thorne frankly confessed to Macy that their marriage was a mistake and asked for a divorce. Macy, however, refused to give up without a fight. She quickly reminded Thorne of the commitment they made to each other when they married in Amsterdam -- and that divorce was not an option.

Despite the pressure from family and friends and particularly Stephanie's staunch opposition to the union, Thorne continued his affair with Brooke. Macy pleaded with Thorne for another chance but ultimately agreed to sign the divorce papers if they could spend one last night together. At the Forrester cabin at Big Bear, Macy and Thorne danced to their song for one last time, and Thorne found Macy to be remarkably dignified. Thorne left the cabin. Macy, saddened by the end of her marriage, began to drink. Frustrated with Thorne's compromise, Brooke drove to the cabin, divorce papers in hand, and tried to get Macy to sign them on the spot. Macy was furious with Brooke for destroying her evening with Thorne and tried to escape in Brooke's car. Brooke jumped in the passenger seat and watched in horror as Macy drove the car into an oil tanker! Thorne ran to the scene of the accident and desperately tried to pull the women from the twisted wreck. Trapped behind the wheel, Macy insisted that Thorne save Brooke first, who was then unconscious. Thorne dragged Brooke to safety and watched helplessly as the car was quickly engulfed in a massive explosion. Macy died instantly.
